Woke up a refreshed but a little sick this morning, scratchy throat and a drippy nose, but happy to have a happy wife and a beautiful healthy baby, albeit also with a drippy nose. Work was a little busier than it's been in a month or so, so that was a nice relief.

Responsible Dad-type stuff

I had readied my bike gear for a 5:30am departure, but through the night B kept on getting up to negotiate with a very stubborn and cranky 15 month old. When my alarm went off at 5am, my first feeling was not "BIKE RIDE! WOOO!" but "my poor betsy!" I groggily asked B if I should cancel my bike ride, and she said oh no, go go go.

But her stridency was not enough to overcome my potential guilty feeling that would follow me on the bike, so I slept in. Around 9, finally got up to a thrilled B&E, and announced immediately that Edie & I were going out, and B was to sleep. B pretty much passed out on the spot.

Instead of a stroller, I opened the door of the apartment and Edie walked on out to the elevator. In the lobby she negotiated the 3 steps by crawling down them. When it came to walking out to the sidewalk, Edie found this an excellent spot for peek-a-boo and we spent a few minutes of her walking to the sidewalk, running to behind a hedge, me popping in on her, then repeat. I then put her on my shoulders and walked around to the local greasy spoon, but it looked too crowded to negotiate with an Edie, so I put her down and followed her.

She ran over to the gate of the park behind our building, and that's where we spend the next hour or so. Slide and steps over and over again. We got home a little after 11 and I spent most of the day either playing with Edie or laying on the couch vegetating with my large TV.

I did a little ride to pick up cat food, and stopped in on my favorite ramen shop. but did not have much of an appetite. I met up with B & E on the street and we went back to the park from the morning, where our coop was holding a little social gathering. A few people who I hadn't seen in a while commented on how thin I looked, which is weird, as I don't think I look particularly different. But I guess the numbers at the end of the month will tell the tale...
